Biography: Dr. Tao Ban is currently a senior researcher with Cybersecurity Research Institute, National Institute of Information and Communications Technology, Tokyo, Japan. He got his Bachelor’s degree from Department of Automatic Control, Xi’an Jiaotong University in 1999, his Master degree of engineering from Department of Automation, Tsinghua University in 2003, and Ph.D. from Kobe University in the field of Information Science in 2006. He is the receiver of the following awards. IEEE AsiaJCIS 2013 best paper award, IEEE DMAI2008 best paper award, ICONIP 2007 best paper award, 2004 IEEE Kansai section best student paper award. Biography: James (Ningjiang) Chen is now a Senior Program Manager in Carl Zeiss China Innovation and R&D Center. He is managing innovation projects and leading the team of AI and algorithm. He has a broad R&D experience from corporate research, advanced development to new product development. Before joining Carl Zeiss, he worked in Leica Biosystems for managing Histopathology product development and in Philips Healthcare for developing the CT imaging system. He started his career in Philips Research Asia and filed 20+ patents, covering the fields of digital TV, sensor networks, auto-alert fall detection system and healthcare instruments. He received his Ph.D. degree in Pattern Recognition and Intelligent System from Shanghai Jiaotong University.

Biography: Dr. Ghorbani has held a variety of positions in academia for the past 36 years and is currently a Tier 1 Canada Research Chair in Cybersecurity, the Director of the Canadian Institute for Cybersecurity, and an IBM Canada Faculty Fellow. His current research focus is Cybersecurity, Web Intelligence, and Critical Infrastructure Protection. Dr. Ghorbani is the co-inventor on 3 awarded patents in the area of Network Security and Web Intelligence and has published over 250 peer-reviewed articles during his career. He has supervised over 170 research associates, postdoctoral fellows, graduate and undergraduate students during his career. His book, Intrusion Detection and Prevention Systems: Concepts and Techniques, was published by Springer in October 2010. He is the co-founders of the Privacy, Security, Trust (PST) Network in Canada and its international annual conference. Dr. Ghorbani is the co-Editor-In-Chief of Computational Intelligence Journal. He has developed a number of technologies that have been adopted by high-tech companies. He co-founded two companies, Sentrant and EyesOver in 2013 and 2015, respectively. Dr. Ghorbani is the recipient of the 2017 Startup Canada Senior Entrepreneur Award.

Biography: Xiaolin Hu got his PhD degree of Automation and Computer-Aided Engineering from The Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2007. Then he became a post-doc researcher at the Department of Computer Science and Technology, Tsinghua University. Since 2009, He has been a faculty member of this department. His current research interests include developing brain- inspired computational models and discovering brain mechanisms of visual and auditory processing. Biography: Kaizhu Huang works as Head of department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering in Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University. Biography: Dr. Hossein Sarrafzadeh is Professor and Director of Cybersecurity at St. Bonaventure University, St. Bonaventure NY. He is well linked to the ICT industry both nationally and internationally, and has strong links to the international research and academic community. Leveraging these strong networks with industry, academia, and with government, particularly in the field of IT security and computational intelligence, he has attracted funding to his department and his institution. Dr. Sarrafzadeh has developed one of the world’s first real-time facial expression and gesture recognition systems. He has also developed a novel vision based targeted advertising system which has been patented in New Zealand and internationally. Dr Sarrafzadeh has led the establishment of New Zealand’s first cyber security cener in partnership with the National Institute of Information and Communications Technology of Japan and has also been instrumental in the founding and development of the Centre for Computational Intelligence for Environmental Engineering and the Internet of Things (in partnership with Wuhan University and LJDY (IT Company), in China and NIWA (NZ)). Professor Sarrafzadeh is known for his work in the areas of intelligent systems, cybersecurity, IoT, adaptive user interfaces and software engineering. Biography: Jie Yang received a bachelor’s degree in Automatic Control in Shanghai Jiao Tong University, where a master’s degree in Pattern Recognition & Intelligent System was achieved three years later. In 1994, he received Ph.D. at Department of Computer Science, University of Hamburg, Germany. Now he is the Professor and Director of Institute of Image Processing and Pattern recognition in Shanghai Jiao Tong University. He is the principal investigator of more than 30 national and ministry scientific research projects in image processing, pattern recognition, data mining, and artificial intelligence, including two national 973 research plan projects, four national 863 research plan projects, four National Nature Foundation projects, six international cooperative
projects with France, Sweden, Korea, Japan, New Zealand. He has published five books，more than five hundreds of articles in national or international academic journals and conferences. Up to now, he has supervised 6 postdoctoral, 42 doctors and 70 masters, awarded six research achievement prizes from ministry of Education, China and Shanghai municipality. Two Ph.D. dissertation he supervised was evaluated as “National Best Ph.D. Dissertation” in 2009. Two Ph.D. dissertations he supervised were evaluated as “Shanghai Best Ph.D. Dissertation” in 2009 and 2010. He has owned 32 patents.
